AGENCY MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

Dues: $400/year

QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

  • You must be an independent manufacturer representative agency or heavy duty division engaged in the sale of parts and/or accessories to the heavy duty vehicle and equipment market through OEMs and/or aftermarket distribution for a minimum of one year.
  • Your agency and/or division must have 75% of its volume in sales and income derived from heavy duty sales and 75% of its lines must be heavy duty.
  •  If the proposed member is an agency with multi-industry lines (including automotive), the agency must have a heavy duty division that is separate from other sales activities of the agency. That division must meet the HDRA membership qualifications. ·
  • The agency or division must be a commissioned representative for a minimum of three major heavy duty product lines.
  • The proposed member agency must have full-time sales personnel working exclusively in the territory profiled. ·
  • Membership is on a company (not individual) basis. ·
  • Applicant must provide two in-territory sponsor recommendations and one out-of-territory sponsor HDRA member. ·
  • Applicant must provide an agency profile listing lines, experience and personnel. Dues are $400 annually.

CODE OF ETHICS

By the Representative to the Manufacturer

  • Comply with established policies of the manufacturer.
  • Conscientiously cover the territory assigned.
  • Avoid misrepresentation in any form or manner.
  • Restrict lines or accounts with principals to those that can be well handled.
  • Give the manufacturer the same loyal service as the representative operating his own business expects from his own employees.

By the Manufacturer to the Representative

  • Enter into a fairly and clearly worded agreement with the representative.
  • Refrain from any modification whatever of the terms of such agreement except by mutual consent after full and friendly discussion of the reasons for such desired modifications.
  • Provide practical and dignified means for friendly arbitration of all controversial points that may arise between representatives and manufacturer.

By the Representatives to One Another

  • Exchange trade information in the mutual interest.
  • Avoid all appearance of undermining fellow agents with their manufacturers and customers.
  • Cooperate to upgrade the profession of the manufacturers representative by supporting the association established for the purpose, subscribing to its aims and objectives and in every practical way working to advance the interests of all manufacturers agents.
